The Prague Hotel King George (Hotel U Krale Jiriho), belonging to the category 3 star Prague hotels, is located in the historical centre of Prague, in the Old Town (Praha Stare mesto). This Prague hotel is situated in a historical building dating back to the 14th century "U krale Jiriho" (at King George’s). The building, now offering stylish Prague accommodation, has been meticulously reconstructed preserving both it’s original antique character and the picturesque romantic atmosphere of old Prague.

Located in the historical Prague centre, in the Prague Old Town, The King George Hotel, like many other Prague hotels sits among an array of captivating pastel coloured buildings of Romanesque or Gothic origin. The Old Town Square, with it’s dramatic history, will take you back some 700 years in time.

The King George Hotel is situated on Liliova Street which connects two important historical places, Bethlehem Square, the home of the Bethlehem Chapel, and Charles Street which in the 12th century was part of the Royal Route. The King George Hotel is just a short walk from many more significant places of interest in Prague, including Powder Gate, Church of Our Lady before Týn and the Astronomical Clock.

Gastronomy

This historic building “U krale Jiriho” (the “King George house”) is a structure with a rich heritage. It is first mentioned in 1376, when it was part of the St. Anne’s Cloister and contained rooms for nuns. It continued to be used for this purpose until the late 18th century, when the cloister was dissolved. The building was then converted into a typical burgher’s house, well complementing its neighbours in the street of Liliova. A butcher’s shop was opened in the ground floor, and the section of the rear contained a printing workshop.

In 1992, reconstruction of the building began, leading to its present form. Today, it offers Prague accommodation for all visitors who wish to enjoy the enchantment of Prague’s picturesque ancient streets. And for those who desire an excellently prepared meal in the newly rebuilt premises of our restaurant, we can only wish them BON APETIT!

After your meal why not take a stroll and enjoy the dramatic history of the Old Town? The King George Hotel is just a short walk from all significant places of interest.
